Update: SWF2Go Professional 2.5 is released which comes with built-in support for S60 5th Edition / Symbian^1 devices. Steps mentioned here are no longer needed in v2.5.

SWF2Go Professional 2.0 generated SWF launcher is 100% compatible with latest S60 5th Edition devices (i.e. Nokia N97, 5800XM). We have tested it on these devices.

The output SIS have compatibility UID for S60 3rd Edition devices only. Adding S60 5th Edition platform support manually allows same SIS to be used on both 3rd Edition and 5th Edition devices.

Below are the instructions for making the SIS compatible for S60 5th Edition devices.

You will need MakeSIS.exe and SignSIS.exe from S60 3rd Edition MR (Maintenance Release) SDK. You can search C:\Symbian\ directory for them after installing the SDK.

  • Setup a new project or open an existing one in SWF2Go v2
  • Open Options and check “Export PKG File” and “Export SIS Source”, and select Ok to save
  • Build your project
  • You will get additional files. PKG which you will need to remake the SIS, and SIS source files located in C:\SWF2Go\temp
  • Open the PKG file in any text editor, and add the following lines below ; Platform compatibility lines
  • The final out should look like this:
    ; Platform compatibility

    [0x101F7961], 0, 0, 0, {"S60ProductID"}

    ;Supports S60 release 5.0
    [0x1028315F], 0, 0, 0, {"Series60ProductID"}
  • Same application is already working on S60 3rd Edition, so you can keep the 3rd Edition platform UID there, like in example above. Save the PKG file
  • Now using the MakeSIS.exe tool, remake the SIS file using the modified PKG file
  • After this, you will need to sign the SIS. Use the SignSIS.exe tool to sign the SIS. Remember, you don’t need to make new self-certificate as you can use the one which comes with SWF2Go. Its located in C:\SWF2Go\Templates folder along with its Key file. The password is “MyLogic” (same as in SWF2Go Options).
  • For instructions on using the MakeSIS and SignSIS tools, please take a look at SWF2Go 1.x forums on swf2go.com. There are many examples of using the tool.

If you have any questions, you can post them in support forums.

New update of SWF2Go is in the works and will be available soon.
